Good Friday...A few thoughts on child-like faith

But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” - Matthew 18:14 NLT

Good Friday is usually so slow here in Haiti. It is a day where some lay in bed all day, some go to church, some fly kites... It is overall a day where we basically have no other choice than to slow down.

This morning, Lili had a wonderful time playing around, watching Soso (our cook for more than 15 years now) clean the fish, play in water and just be Lili.

I've been thinking about Matthew 18:14 lately and what Jesus meant when He spoke about children. I have been craving this child-like type of faith and walk with the Lord. I feel like observing Lili allows God to speak to my heart and give me a better idea of what it truly means.

When I look at my daughter I aspire to a faith that is observant. A faith that takes time to look around and notice. The type of intimacy with the Lord where I am so in awe of His creation. Child-like faith trusts. It expects the best and expresses its needs unashamed.

I pray that, as we slow down today, we can better understand how we can be better children to our family father.

In a world that is constantly rushing, let us slow down and sit on Jesus's lap. Let's lean in and rest with a God who desires to hear us and comfort us. May we take the time to be still today and ponder on the fact that we were created by a God who so loved the us that He gave himself away so that we may be called "children"
