Today, many health professionals are starting to realize the importance of self-care for general well-being and disease reversal! Was about time right?! The best doctors out there who are able to get extraordinary results in patience are the ones who, not only look at symptoms but who also look at your lifestyle and encourage a stress-free and blissful environment in order to help your body heal faster. Did you know that it is proven that people who are happy and make time for self-care have way higher rates of recovery?
Today, too many people think they are too busy to take care of themselves. But the sad and inevitable truth is that, if you do not take care of yourself, sooner or later you will be too sick to even do the things that are keeping you so "busy". Taking care of yourself is not selfish. It is crucial. I pray that you can start realizing this before it is too late.
Self-care, unlike what people think, does not have to be expensive. If you cannot afford the Spa every week, trust me, there are many ways to implement self-care into your routine every single day without spending a lot of money or even any money at all.
Epson Salt Bat
Espon salt baths have been my go to for several months now. It is such a great way to relax your muscles, get some time alone and get rid of tension. If you have a bath tub at home, preparing a bath is easy. Clean your tub first. Second thing will be to fill it with hot (or warm) water. What I do is that I will also boil some therapeutic leaves and then pour the tea in the tub water. While water is still pouring , drop a few ounces of relaxing body wash to get some foam. My favorite is the Dr Teal's peppermint one with epson salt. Then pour your Epson Salt in there. Last but not least, put a few drops of essential oil. My all time favorites are: 1)Peppermint for its intense relaxing effect and 2)Lemongrass for the smell <3
Extra tip: Light some candles, put some relaxing music one, shut your phone off and just relax.
Salt baths can do wonders for your mind and body and is easy to do at home. Try them!
Aromatherapy
Diffusers are one of my favorite "toys" now. you can get them for just a few bucks on Amazon and most of them come with mini bottles of essential oils. They are so easy to use and not only help you breathe and relax but also fills your whole house with therapeutic smells.
Going outside
Such an important, yet, underrated form of therapy. Going out in nature can be a self-care activity. Nature as a way of calming our minds and forces us to be more present. Most of our stress is usually caused by worrying too much about the future or about the past. Being in the present calms our weary minds and releases tension in our bodies.

Quality time with loved ones
Spending time with people who bring you down or stress you out has more negative effects on your well-being than you think. It is important to make time for the people with whom you can laugh out loud and be grateful for life! It doesn't need to be a super complicated activity. Things as simple as a movie night, a get together or a nice phone call can be enough to count as part of your self-care routine for the day
Massages
This one is on the pricier side but guess what!!? Besides my regular and more expensive masseuse that comes once a week, I have found one that comes twice a week for less than $100 a month!!! She charges about $65 bucks for 8 massages a month. Yes you heard this right. How did I hit the jackpot? I used to work with this person and at the time, I had a lot of stiffness in my legs. When I told someone about it, he told me that this lady was very good with massages and used to work for this NGO offering physical therapy services. How odd because she was now working in manufacturing. This specific day, she happened to have a pain relief lotion with her and did a quick massage on my legs! I started referring her to friends who were all satisfied. So one day I thought, why not hire her to give me full body massages since I cannot afford having the more expensive masseuse more than once a week? And BOOM. That is how I hit the jackpot and am now getting 3 massages a week. YESSSS. Massages are one of my absolute favorite forms of self-care. I get so relaxed and happy when I get them and it really makes me feel like I am catering to my body. Massages have helped me get rid of body stiffness and helps me sleep better. If you live in Haiti and need an affordable way to get weekly massages in... let me know.
